Carson Daly has revealed that he and his wife, Siri, are still sleeping in separate beds — and he insists it's the 'best thing' that ever happened to them.

The Today host, 48, gave an update on their sleeping arrangements on Friday's show, explaining that he will crash on the couch or in the guest room when he's not with his wife, 41.

'I was served my sleep-divorce papers a few years ago,' he reminded his co-stars. 'It’s the best thing that ever happened to us. We both, admittedly, slept better apart.'

Carson and Siri, a Today Food contributor, started sleeping in separate beds while she was pregnant with their fourth child, Goldie, who was born in March 2020.

Two years later, they have made some adjustments and are now alternating between sleeping together and apart.

'We've reconciled a little bit, so we're just sleep separated,' he noted. 'So some nights I'm in the bed. Some nights I'm on the couch or in the guest room.'

Carson brought up their sleeping arrangements while discussing a Scandinavian sleep method in which couples share a bed but not blankets.

'You have your own comforters or duvets,' he explained. 'Studies have actually found that sleeping with the same blanket can result in more interrupted sleep, as much as 30 percent.'

'That's so smart,' Hoda Kotb said.

'I think so too,' Craig Melvin agreed, but their co-star Tom Llamas insisted he was 'totally against' the concept.

'It is against everything about marriage and having a partner,' he explained. 'It's all about compromise and sharing. Also, how do you snuggle in bed?'

Carson said they have gone from 'sleep divorced' to 'sleep separated because he will sometimes join his wife in bed

Carson said they have gone from 'sleep divorced' to 'sleep separated because he will sometimes join his wife in bed

'How do you have a wife that wants to snuggle?' Carson joked.

'This sounds like [it’s] really worth trying,' he added, 'because you have independence.'

Carson has been candid about his and his wife's sleep struggles, which came to a head during her last pregnancy.

'We're both pretty good-sized humans, and it just wasn't really working when she was in her third trimester, and I also have sleep apnea, which is very sexy for the ladies out there, I'm sure,' he told People in 2020.

'She couldn't get comfortable, so we were like a commercial you would see, kicking each other and just not sleeping.'

'We woke up and we just shook hands like, "I love you, but it's time to sleep divorce. It'll be the best thing for all of us,"' he explained.

Carson and Siri have four children together: Jackson, 13, Etta, 9, London, 7, and Goldie, 2.

They continued to sleep apart after their youngest daughter was born because they were temporarily living in California while he was filming The Voice.

He had to get up for the Today show around 3 a.m., and he didn't want to risk waking up his wife and baby girl by sleeping in the same room as them.

'I don't know if we'll ever sleep together again,' he said at the time.
