It's unclear where the ceremony will take place, but the Bidens are devout Catholics, making a church wedding highly likely. The family also hasn't shared where on the 18-acre, 55,000-square foot compound the reception will actually take place.

'The First Family, the couple, and their parents are still in the planning stages of all of the wedding festivities and look forward to announcing further details in the coming months,' the first lady's press secretary Michael LaRosa told DailyMail.com in a statement in April.

'Consistent with other private events hosted by the First Family and following the traditions of previous White House wedding festivities in prior Administrations, the Biden family will be paying for the wedding activities that occur at the White House.'

Naomi is a lawyer based in Washington D.C., while Peter is in his final semester of law school at the University of Pennsylvania.

The couple has been together for four years after meeting in New York City where they were set up on a date by a mutual friend.

The last wedding to take place at the White House was on October 19, 2013, when President Barack Obama's photographer Pete Souza married Patti Lease in the Rose Garden with the commander-in-chief in attendance.

Prior to that, First Lady Hillary Clinton's brother Anthony Rodham wed Nicole Boxer on May 28, 1994, over a year after President Bill Clinton was elected to office.

Clinton was not in office when his daughter, Chelsea Clinton, married Marc Mezvinsky. Her wedding was held at Astor Courts Estate in Rhinebeck, New York, on July 31, 2010.

There is a long history of presidential children getting married at the residence or holding a reception there, with James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, John Tyler, and Ulysses S. Grant all hosing weddings during their tenures.

In one of the more famous White House weddings, first daughter Tricia Nixon married Ed Cox in the Rose Garden on June 12, 1971. Her father, President Richard Nixon, walked her down the aisle.

However, George W. Bush's daughter Jenna Bush Hager opted to marry her husband, Henry Hager, in her home state of Texas in May 2008. Her father, who was president at the time, hosted a reception for her at the White House.
