Michelle Williams is pregnant with her third child and due in the fall.

The movie star revealed the news in a cover story for Variety, which was released on Tuesday morning. 

The actress, 41, and her husband Thomas Kail, 44, welcomed a child in 2020, a son named Hart.

Michelle, who cradled her growing baby bump in the accompanying photos for the cover story, is mom to daughter Matilda, 16, with the late actor Heath Ledger.

'It's totally joyous,' she told the outlet, adding: 'As the years go on, you sort of wonder what they might hold for you or not hold for you. It's exciting to discover that something you want again and again, is available one more time.'

Michelle said: 'That good fortune is not lost on me or my family.'

Michelle and Thomas, a director, secretly wed in March 2020 after getting engaged in fall 2019.

They had met while working on Fosse/Verdon, he served as the director and she starred in the mini series.

In December 2019, Us Weekly reported that the star was pregnant with her second child, the following month Michelle debuted her baby bump at the Screen Actors Guild Awards with Thomas arm-in-arm.

The couple welcomed their son Hart in the summer of 2020 amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

Michelle said raising a child during the pandemic gave her a new perspective: 'It was a reminder that life goes on.' 

Adding: 'The world we brought a baby into is not the world we thought we were bringing a baby into, but the baby is ignorant of that. He experiences the unmitigated joy of discovery and the happiness of a loving home.'

Michelle was previously in a relationship with Heath Ledger from 2004 until his death in 2007 at the age 28; they welcomed daughter Matilda in October 2005.

She was briefly married to musician Phil Elverum from 2018 until she filed for divorce in April 2019.
