Eight years ago, the Gone Girl star admitted in an interview with Details that he was barred for life from playing blackjack tables at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas after security believed he was counting cards.

'That is a true story. I mean, that took place,' he said when asked to clarify reports he was banned.

'I took some time to learn the game and became a decent blackjack player. And once I became decent, the casinos asked me not to play blackjack,' he explained. 'I mean, the fact that being good at the game is against the rules at the casinos should tell you something about casinos.'

While counting cards is not illegal, it is frowned upon in casinos.

'I don't bet on football games, and I don't gamble at all, really, outside of that,' Affleck told the magazine, at the time.

He continued: 'But I knew with blackjack that there's a way you can improve your odds. And so I started trying to learn. And then I just got to a point in my life where I'm like, 'If I'm going to do something, I'm going to try and do it really well.''

'Luckiest parents in the world. Thanks for all the good you do. Happy Mother's Day. Love, their Dad,' he captioned a slideshow of throwbacks with their brood over the years.

A year earlier, the director called divorcing Jennifer the 'biggest regret' of his life.

'Shame is really toxic. There is no positive by-product of shame. It's just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing,' he said in an interview with The New York Times.
