Mel Gibson arrives to Glasgow in style as he touches down in a private jet ahead of fronting a live event in the city

Mel Gibson looked ever the action star as he stepped off of his private jet in Glasgow on Thursday.

The Lethal Weapon star was laden with a brown holdall, with a baseball cap attached to it.

He shielded his eyes from the rare northern sun with a pair of black sunglasses, while making his way off the jet.

He is set to take centre stage on Sunday evening at an Experience With live event, which sees celebrities attending a luxe night out, being interviewed on stage in a room full of fans.

The black tie event is being held at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, and is set to see Mel reveal untold stories and anecdotes from his career.

The movie icon previously did an event with the company last year in London, while others such as Sylvester Stallone, Al Pacino and Arnold Schwarzenegger have also taken part.

It is seemingly his first time in Scotland since the release of his film Braveheart back in the 1990s, with the movie being filmed both there and in Ireland.

And hopefully he'll have a better experience this time, as he previously revealed that they moved the filming of the movie from Scotland to Ireland due to the country not being 'friendly enough'.

Talking to Today FM back in 2017, Mel explained: 'We started off in Scotland and we were thinking, ‘How are we going to do this? It’s not horse-friendly. It’s not people-friendly.

He further explained that Ireland’s Minister for Arts at the time, Michael D. Higgins, 'opened the gates up over here and really greased the wheels and helped us get it done'.

Jesting that he was 'scared to return', the actor previously told MailOnline: 'I haven't gone back since because I'm afraid. I'd never get sober for one thing, and to have to run around in a dress. . . it's cold up there!'
