Thora Birch, 40, looks elegant on the Bullet Train red carpet... over 20 years after she starred with pal Scarlett Johansson in Ghost World

She had a thriving career as a child actress which included the hit films Hocus-Pocus, Now And Then, Ghost World and American Beauty.

And now Thora Birch is a serious actress who more recently starred in the TV series The Walking Dead, Wednesday and the soon-to-be-released TV movie The Gabby Petito Story.

On Monday evening the blonde beauty, 40, proved she still has a movie star glow as she hit the red carpet in Los Angeles for the premiere of the Brad Pitt movie Bullet Train.

The actress showed off her toned legs in a black mini dress as she added an emerald green necklace and floral print high heels while her red hair was worn down.

She took a break from acting briefly before resuming her career in 2016.

In 2019 she told W magazine, 'I did take a break. I stepped back. I receded from, let’s say, the forefront of the entertainment celebrity world.

'[Laughs.] But that was kind of intentional. I did want to breathe and reevaluate things. I got my degree, and it all brought me back to realizing that at the end of the day, I still want to just be a part of storytelling.

And still doing great: Birch is now a serious actress who more recently starred in the TV series The Walking Dead, Wednesday and the soon-to-be-released TV movie The Gabby Petito Story

'Coming back has been a little bit of a bumpy ride, but it’s actually going really good, and I wish that we had this interview in a couple of weeks because then I would be legally able to tell you what I’m working on now. It’s one of those projects where you sign the paragraph that says, "If you talk about it, we will confiscate your organs."

' [Laughs.] So, there’s more to come.'

She also said she is glad she is not a child star these days with the internet.

'I think if I were that age now, I would be pretty concerned. I would probably have a phase or a couple of weeks where I totally went nuts and did it the way everyone else was doing, and then see the fallout from that and quickly adjust.

'I think I might come back full circle to how I am about it now. But I think what kids today are doing is incredible, and there are some that are using it to the best of their advantage. It’s about the individual at the end of the day, how one can navigate those waters. I’m on Twitter, I don’t know why.'

She added that she feels like she has to have 'some kind of message for people who do want to reach out.'

And Thora added, 'When you get a little notification of someone that says they live in Australia or Brazil or whatever saying, "I’ve loved you since 1995," or whatever, and they just want to ask a question or give a nudge or a like, it’s nice to be able to provide that to them because they’re the reason I’m able to continue what I’m doing now.'

In 2018 Thora announced the news via a Twitter post that she had wed.

'It’s done! I’m a married woman now...' she wrote. 'This is not the official photo but it’s my thank you to all my fans for their positive energy! I felt it every second!! party time. Hehe.'

Thora looked lovely in a black coat with delicate veil over her chocolate locks.

The lucky guy, who sported a handsome grey suit, was not identified in the photo.

Earlier in the day she shared a photo of a beautiful wedding bouquet. It was captioned: 'What the hell are THESE?!? ;-)'

She asked for her fans to send good vibes in another tweet which read: 'A little request from my wonderful Twitter peeps: Todays a big day for me (more to come on that). I need everyone’s positive vibes at around 1:30PM PST! ❤️ #LifeIsBeautiful!.'

Afterwards, the star was 'glowing' as she shared a picture of herself playing around in a window.

'Still basking in the glow. My perfect penguin caught me 'in a moment',' she wrote affectionately.
